    Prepaid plan for exchange student in India



    Hello everyone,

    This is my first time posting on this forum, I am French and will be a business school exchange student in Kolkota from September to December. In France I use an unlocked Curve 9300 and I would like to use in India to keep in touch with my girlfriend in France.
    I have seem that Airtel offers prepaid blackberry plans (the website seems to be down right know but I think I remember a 800-900 INR / month plan) and i have a couple of questions:
    - can I get it at the aiport?
    - what documents do I need to sign up?
    - With such plans will I have access to BBM? emails? web browsing?
    - how's the EDGE coverage in India (I will most likely travel a lot)?
    - Do you think it will be a good plan for my needs?

    Now that Airtel's website is up again I can give more information, in reality the plan I saw was the Rs 399 plan:
    Monthly
    Internet-Mail
    Service    		 Rs. 399 30 days Unlimited emails (POP/IMAP) + Instant
    Messaging + Internet Browsing

    - when i buy the sim card how long does it take to be set tup, can I use right away?
    - Can i make phone calls with such a plan?

    It usually takes couple of hours.
    No you can't make phone calls, for that you need to take another plan (recharge).
