Question WIFI vs. BIS vs. WAP Browser

    Thanks for the info.

Is there a way to choose your WIFI vs. BIS options in BB OS6 on the 9700? These options seem to have disappeared along with the introduction of WebKit. Also, the WAP Browser option [Operator Live !!!] seems to be disappeared any idea how to get it back?

Earlier, I used to switch to WIFI to view You Tube videos, but the operators in India seem to have disabled You Tube.

Unfortunately, these options are missing in BlackBerry OS6 Browser.

    This is how it works:

If your Radio is ON & Wifi is ON, Browser would use Wifi. If Wifi is Off then Browser would use BIS. Streaming Videos would be used via Wap. Incase, BIS is not active then Browser would use Wap.

About Youtube, if you have Wifi active on your Device, you can still view the Videos without Wap.

It is recommended to keep Wap deactivated from Operator's end to prevent incurring of charges especially when you have Wifi available for Videos/Browsing.

Thanks Pratit. With WIFI on also You Tube did not stream. My You Tube used to work earlier on WIFI and post upgrade to OS 6 it stopped. I'll try to turn off the mobile network completely and try, but that would defeat the purpose of having a phone...

You may try to delete your Service Books & push them afresh. Wifi runs without phone having Radio Off.

Wi-Fi won't work without data services off.. even if its on, i think vodafone blocks BIS over Wi-Fi - it has been confirmed by quite a number of users on this forum.
Its enabled only in the 899 plan.

check again..with the customer care.. i am sure its there ..
else port to Airtel ... airtel allows browsing over wifi (even on 599 plan) - airtel even allowed Email/Messenger over Wifi on 599, but then disabled it after some time.
