Thread: Trying to update BlackBerry 9300 Curve 3G in India

Hi

I was trying to update OS of BlackBerry 9300 Curve 3G via BlackBerry Desktop Manager or even via the BlackBerry website using the 'Check for Update' option
Every time, I encounter this error : 'An error occurred while downloading software for your device. Please verify your internet settings or try again later if the problem persists'
Any hints?

hi anil
there may be many reason
1. check if by any chance firewall is blocking the Desktop Manager from downloading the the update.
2. reinstall the Desktop Manager & try if it works

otherwise directly download from RIM site - BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites or from forum's 9300 page - Blackberry Curve 9300 (where you will find very latest OS updates posted by members) & follow the process of installation from - Upgrading your BlackBerry OS via BBSAK using Device Wipe « BBIndia

Finally I downloaded the O/S from BB website, installed it on my Desktop/PC.
Used the BB Desktop Manager to update my device O/S using that version of O/S.


Finally I am on O/S 6.x


P.S. I did check my internet connectivity, etc - it failed for me both at home and office.

i am facing the same problem as yours ( error while updating through desktop ) , i am looking for a link to download os 6 software through BB website for vodafone, but could not find it.

can you send me the link from where you downloaded the os 6 software?

You can go here : Blackberry Curve 9300 and check for the downloads available here.
Alternatively, you can go to : BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites. Unfortunately there is none available for Vodafone India. I chose the Telus Mobility one and downloaded the OS 6.x available there.

hi i am from delhi and i am using airtel i am not carrer locked so which file should i download for india starhub or telus ? did u people find your bb to get slow after updating ?

I used the Telus s/w. AFAIK - as long as you go ahead and delete the vendor.xml file - I guess you are good go to ahead..
On an apples to apples comparison - I have not found any deterioration in my BB after the upgrade..

telus is for north america can i use starhub as it is for asia pacific ??????
