Its the Virtual Store Redirection feature.It is designed so that programs do not write data into the Program Files folder and properly designed apps really shouldn't be storing data in the Program Files directory.The compatibility view is noticed only if there is a compatibility file virtualization on a particular BB OS install.
Are you able to view the vendor.xml file in your apploaded folder. If not.....click on tools>folder options>view> make sure 'Show hidden files,folders and drives' is selected.
For all OS7 users, there is ( it may be missing at times) another vendor.xml file at : C:Users:Yourname/computername:AppData:Roaming:ResearchinMotion:Blac kberry:LoaderXml
Delete the 2nd vendor.xml too.
The above path is on win7/vista.
If above is not working, you can also use BB desktop manager to update. Remove all old os'es . Install the latest. Then, preferably, disconnect internet connection, then connect your phone and see if BBDM finds this new os as a suggested update.
In this case too, both vendor.xml need to be deleted.
