    Google map is charged for.

    Hey guys,

I am on Vodafone 399 plan, and use BB 9300.
I am a bit of a traveler, and use google maps extensively. But the problem is Google tries to find the position (GPS) and it passes through the vodafone APN, for which I am charged.

It keeps sending signals which are less than a KB, but every time it does, I get charged 10p for it. (10p just for one signal, and signals are sent continuously when the application is opened)

Is their a way to route those signals through BIS? Or is their any other alternative to Google map, which is absolutely free?

    Hey Thanks for replying

Tried that already once I came to knew I was being charged for it. But for some reason, even without Vodafone Live, I can access the net.

On talking to the Vodafone customer care, I told them I shouldn't be able to use the Vodafone Live (the normal gprs) service once it is disabled, but they kept saying if you use gprs net you will be charged for O.o

Is their any way, internally, by which I can disable access to Vodafone Live APN.

I already told Vodafone to disconnect VL on my phone, and they have confirmed that it is disabled, but I still connect through VL . I guess it can't be helped. I did find an app TrekBuddy that seems to store google maps offline. However I wont be able to see my location, but I guess I need to live wid that or get a 99 plan of VL along wid the BIS plan.

Nope, getting 99 rs plan shudnt be the solution.. we dont want to spend extra money for service provider's fault.. check with them again, make sure to talk to their supervisor. prepaid CC is the worst they'll just refuse to transfer the call to supervisor even if they dont know whats the problem is.
